"Autism", as a developmental disability, has gained increased acknowledgment in the last two decades. However, the different manifestations of autism, such as "Classic autism, High Functioning Autism, Asperger Syndrome" are still struggling to be fully understood.

While children with classic autism show very clear signs right from early ages, there are children less affected by autism (know to be high functioning) who show more subtle signs such as difficulty recognizing facial expressions, sarcasm and teasing, and struggle to adapt to unexpected changes in routine. Their interests tend to be very narrow, which limits their capacity to relate to others.

These signs are not picked up until they are much older as these children often present very good academic performance with no issues in speech and language development and average to above average levels of IQ.

This international program, "The Other End of Autism" is directed towards equipping you, as a teacher, to identify "The higher functioning but lesser understood" children and help support them within your classroom and in school, with available resources.

Mr. Tim, a renowned Speech and Language Therapist and expert on social-communication deficits in children, is coming all the way to our neighborhood to help you as a teacher to understand why the child acts in a particular way and equip you with innovative methods and fun, ready-to-use management strategies that are culturally appropriate and ready-to-use.
